The feeling in my heart
As if forced under water
I can feel the ocean seeping into my lungs
For so long I've been drowning
Denied the chance to die
But now i can see, finally
The light of the sun
On the surface of the water above
But though I see the light
My legs refuse to move
Fear rushed over my body
And pain rushed over my thoughts
And I feel that I think things backwards
And the world around me seems distraught
And then I hear the sound of the angel's songs
That ring and echo through heaven
My legs are filled with strength
My heart with hopes, and calm rushes over me
As I kick my way to the light above
And the song gets louder the higher I go
And the beauty surpasses what I could foresee
I finally break the surface and take a breath of air
And realize that the song that filled me with hope
Was that of the voice of my love
With the voice of my love that I hear
A calm I haven't known for years
Finally carries me away
And I pray
never let me lose Her again

"And I feel that I think things backwards
And the world around me seems distraught".
These are two wonderful lines which you presented in your poem. I definitly enjoyed reading this poem, nice imagery, may I add. It was also different how you turned the poem into where they didn't die and actually broke to the surface and there was a happy ending. I must say most of the poetry I write either wasn't happy to begin with or doesnt have a happy ending. It was a nice change! Well done and good luck.
