This metronome
of impertinence
composed a familiar tune,
-Which long ago did reside within me.
It danced throughout my eardrums,
vividly painting,
the fragments of my past.
I looked away only to find,
it was inescapable.
-My mind did not care to hide.
It's fingers wrapped around me,
suffocating, it grasped.
I choked.
-Only to find I could still breath.
Greedily my lungs expanded,
taking in that air of life,
no longer did memories surround me.
I released it reluctantly,
confidence now by my side,
and your heartbeat still resounding.
-My personal lullaby.
Author notes
Sleeping soundly to the lullaby of your heart.
