my soft words freeze
crystallize
the moment they leave
my eager lips
and you catch them
heightening my hopes
for their survival
their safety
but no
you smile
that dark twisting
of perfect lips
and slowly
deliberately
you close your fist
around them
grinding them into
small jagged shards
that slice and tear
causing nothing but pain
to us both
you know that
my admissions of love
are the easiest weapons
to destroy
the easiest weapons
to hurt me with
and so you clinch them tight
then abruptly let them go
slowly walking away
to leave only
a trail of ruined glass
and a fist full of wounds

Ouch
There's nothing quite like unrequited love. Great job on expressing the emotion behind it! -
very intense and interesting. the point of view you took and how you pushed it across is great. the language and emotion are good. thank you for entering and good luck.
