Questions

Missing image
Why is it that I came here,
and what's kept me coming back?
What's kept me ever searching
for that one great gift I lacked?

What's kept me ever looking for,
despite the prior strife,
that woman sent by God above,
with whom to share my life?

Why is it that you came to me
and why did I respond?
What kept me coming back to you,
when I should have gone beyond?

What's kept me up so late at nite
just to share my thoughts with you?
A line or two of the poetry
that only you've renewed.

Why is it you and only you
have triggered this is me,
and released what's built up deep inside
just longing to be free?

What keeps me ever writing of
these feelings in my heart
that's been growing ever deeper
since the days of our first start?

Why is it you and you alone
are always on my mind,
no matter what it is I do,
despite the daily grind?

Why is it that you're in my prayers,
and even in my dreams?
Why is it you are everywhere,
or so to me it seems?

Why is it that I watch this screen
for any sign of you
and eagerly check my emails, too,
for the sight of something new?

Why is it that I open up
and expose this heart of mine,
by writing poems such as this
that seem to flow like wine?

Why is it that I send them
when at times it's hard to do
because the last thing that I would ever want
is to put a scare in you?

Author notes

A poem written for an internet long distance romance for a very special lady I met through a singles site where she had made teh initial contact with me. The distance thing of roughly 569 miles is a bit hard to deal with and contacts are limited so far to emails, chats, and phone calls. And as we got to know each other it benae harder to stop what was happening to me in her regards despite the promise made to mydelf when I joined the site that I woulg NOT get involved in such. But...

filled with such love and emotion I can hardly bear to read it for it seems so personal. I feel like I'm eavesdropping. The rhyme is great and the flow was like smoothe water...just easing from line to line. Thank you for the great entry.

    Beautifully done

You have captured the longing of love lost to the miles. Your poem is wistful and sad and bittersweet. I am particularly impressed with the flow and rhythm of the poem as well as the pace. No rushing -- you don't spoil the read by expecting the reader to hurry to the "punch line" as seems to be the case in some of the work I've read.

    Thanks for the great poem.

I would think that this is not only a special lady, but that she is very lucky indeed to have you. Good luck in this romance, and this was a wonderful piece, flowing with great intention. I wish you both happiness, despite the distance that keeps you separated.
