A Biblical Tale Retold

God calls and we answer
not with words but service
in whatever way he asks.
To refuse, the Lord's call
leaves us tossed on secular waves
engulfed by material largess.
We become consumed by mortal care
Not immune, but unheeding of spirit.
We become locked within our choices,
deep in the depths of darkness.
we are unable to see the dangers.
But, always Heaven's shores wait,
for those who find the will and way.
Open arms await all who emerge,
and land at Mercy's forgiving feet.

This is an interesting write, but it really doesn't follow the guidlines of the contest. The poem was supposed to ALLUDE to a specific story from the Bible, not simply be a poem with Christian themes.

Thank you very much, however, for entering my contest. Best of luck.
