The Gravity Of The Situation

Within a vast cosmic event,
there swirls a microcosm.
Wrapped in a cocoon,
insulated from existence,
life slowly weighs one down.
The very core of attraction
is now absent, as the light fades.
Moving slowly through the motions,
saying what is expected,
doing what is requested,
acting as required,
relationships begin a painful journey
that ultimately ends in death.
The pressure too great
to withstand,
everything is crushed within the well,
leaving only microscopic dust
where once stars shone.

And as all falls apart,
the poles are left with
nothing more than the desire
to escape.
Alas, cyclic as life is,
both are doomed to repeat the process
over and over.
And hope is a commodity
long absent from what we call love.

You have a superb grasp of the English language and ably transmit exactly what you mean. You've really crawled into the blackness of the Black Hole and this is reflected in the poem's dark mood. The death of hope; hummm...I suppose it could be seen that way, or then again as a beginning?

    Peace Georgia

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I was actually going for the loss of love, but I think loss of hope can also be seen in this.

I am fond of poems that can mean two different things within their lines, as this one does. Your imagery is vivid, and your phrasing works wonderfully in communicating the poem's message. It is emotional without being overdone. I enjoyed reading it!
