I had no idea that it would come down to this,
I had no idea that the best night of my life would turn to the worst.
I froze, I went numb,
when I heard that you had been in an accident.
I felt like I wasn't breathing,
Everybody told me that you would be fine,
on that long ride to the hospital.
But somewhere deep inside,
I knew that this was going to be my final goodbye.
I was told to stay calm,
when I walked into the room,
that way I would I wouldn't upset you.
I fought to keep my composure when I saw you lieing there,
the shining light gone from your eyes.
I held your hand,
as I held onto to your last breath,
your last words,
"I love you,"
I told you that I loved you but I knew it wasn't going to heal the pain,
this was our final goodbye.
Final goodbye,
final goodbye...
but my love will never die.

This poem reminded me the song, "Last Kiss." It's sad but such love will stay in your heart as a treasured memory.

i wrote a song entitled "Another goodbye" so i could very much relate to this poem,,, goodbyes are never easy and often takes ages to sooth hope you find comfort in your own poetry... keep uo the geart!!! work
