Christmas Child Memories

Excited small eyes they watch and wait
Mummy how many sleeps till Santa comes?
Soon, my darling, he'll be here
All around him tinsel and glitter
Beautiful Christmas songs of love and giving
And the shiny balls all colors and sizes
O how his little heart did flutter
And then there was the food ..O the wonderful smells

A jolly fat man in a red suit laughed beside him
Ho Ho Ho Ho (In his hand a silver bell)
Life was so exciting for a little man
Every shop had a beautiful Christmas tree and lots a presents
How much excitement can a little boy take
He sat on Santa's knee to have his picture taken
What would you like for Christmas he heard him say
By he was so shy ...he just smiled

He would love a new tip truck
No, a cowboy suit and fishing set
So many things to think about
Sometimes his head would ache with such joy
It was hard being a little boy in a Christmas mood
He smiled as mummy cuddled and hugged him
She had always said Christmas was about love
A little child, a special child born on that day
Santa was a bonus...but he was glad it was a job lot..

Christmas eve ....How could his excitement hold out!
He had a plan ..he would go to bed early ..
sleep did not come easy..but then he was dreaming
A sound of bells  outside his bedroom
He could hear the crinkling of paper on paper
He must not move or he might frighten Santa away
He hoped Santa liked the milk and cookies
They were his favorite mummy told him...

Morning came and glorious sun came through the window
Little eyes sleepily slowly awaken
WOW! There before him was mound of beautiful parcels
Merry Christmas a excited child's voice rang out
He raced into Mummy and Daddy's room
He embraced them both ..I love you both Merry Christmas
Now he said ...Lets open our presents
What fun it was tearing off the paper
And seeing what it was inside

He remembers all these things about Christmas
Even details of the beautiful toys and things he received
But most of all he remembers the wonderful love
The love and warmth of Mum and Dad and the Family
On that magic day so long ago
A day that reinforces love, sharing and giving
The colors , the sounds, The senses
The day of Christmas Child Memories
