Trees line sides as road twist and turns
clearing ahead, quaint cottages appear.
We unpack the car and climb the stairs
Smell of home baked apple pie greets us.
A long awaited weekend has arrived
relax and curl up in front of a fire.
As our get away weekend has begin
Away from cell phones and laptops.
A brisk walk in the newly fallen snow
crunching as we leave our footprints.
Stars bright in the night sky above
few heavy storm clouds drifting by.
Weather reports predicts a snow fall,
enough fire wood to keep fire blazing.
Bring out the cheese and crackers
wine in a goblet, and a warm blanket.
Gathering around talking as we reminisce.
Watching the yellow flames dancing about,
red hot ambers crackle on a ash gray log.
Another log fuels flames as sparks flare up.
Losing track of time, night rolls into day.
Our lost weekend comes to an end…
