finding hope beneath the weight of the world

i chase serenity with both hands tied behind my back,
and find my clumsy paws aren’t the only parts of me
requiring restraint; the words come all too easily--
but if peace is ever to conquer chaos, my lips must learn
the beauty of stillness; my tongue will have to accept
her power-- realizing it is best displayed by the fruits of love
and not by the vastness of destruction.

forgiveness has to begin inside of me-- working her way
out into the world from a place where self-love is a reality;

this is the only hope i cling to;
the only stone i’ve left unturned.

    serenity, peace, its a universal goal for basically all humanity, but humanity at an individual level... so i think this poem takes on different qualities, spiritual or psyhical or w.e...

      wow, thank you! I literally JUST wrote this, and it kind of poured out of me. It's pretty raw & unedited, so I appreciate the feedback on it, and I'm happy it's understandable. ♥ thanks again!
