Chinese Year Of The Rat

Missing image
In ancient times it is said
Buddha called all the animals to meet
twelve of them arrived on Chinese New Year
then Buddha named a year after each, making the cycle complete

To be born in the Year of the Rat
is a very honourable one
historically they are survivors
and in solving problems won't be outdone.

These people have instincts very sharp
and will help others in times of need
the very first in the twelve year cycle
such a very talented breed.

They can be very lively
yet also calm and most perceptive
having both great intelligence
and bright imaginations, yet not at all deceptive.

Those born under this sign
can also be great guides
spurred on with thoughts of status
and money they do prize.

Depending on the year you're born
you are tempered by an element
metal, fire, water, wood and earth
many eager to invent.

I am a solid Earth Rat
and love to do my best
I am a good friend and parent
but spending money I detest.

Also a Virgoan Rat
with a good eye for detail
investigting many things
my enthusiasm doesn't pale.

To be born in the Year of the Rat
is a very fine thing to be
honest and trustworthy
and leading life with glee.

Well, I loved the personal touch of the last three stanzas especially and appreciate all those qualities. The graphic is also wonderful. Thank you for this celebratory poem and Happy New Year of the Rat.

interesting...to be born on the year of the rat. I guess that's cool as long as you're not being chased by a cat!
    LOL
