Christmas Season

Christmas Season

Ahh winter has come
what a magical delight.
Snow has fallen,
just think of the pure heavenly fun.
I love to just sit beside a nice warm fire
watching the kids frolicking all about.
Jack frost nips at your nose.
Playing in a snowdrift or
sword fighting with an icicle in hand.
The sun is so warm and bright
small diamond like sparkles all around.

I sometimes look back and wonder,
what happened to the winter fun?
But for now, I am just going to sit here
and wish you a Merry Christmas Season.

Author notes

Words.
snow, drift, icicle, bright, Merry, frolicking,
wonder, delight, pure, magical.

    Edward:

Ah, snow, fresh virginal and beautiful snow.....

children building snow-people, and snow angels all over the place.....

I have not seen snow for so many years now, and yet this piece takes me there,

where I wish I could be.....

Oh, Edward, you have taken me on a journey through a true Winter's season, where

we need to bundle up in order to enjoy it, not tee-shirts and shorts.....

    (like we do in Florida).....

    Thank you, for this.....

... and a Merry Christmas to you too Ed I would love to sit by a warm fire and have these thoughts too but I have to make do with a warm radiator, which isn't quite the same but at least I have the luxury of the warmth from it and your heart to get through these cold days. The winter fun hasn't gone, it's still inside you if you care to look and find it again

Very nice poem, somehow dreamy with a note of longing and it is written much different than most of your poetry. Like you need a quite place to take a rest but no, not of poetry. Your writing becomes very mature.

Ahh, at times I really miss this kind of holiday season.
But for now, I guess I'll kick back by the pool, watch the kids swimming and having sword fights with those foam pool noodles and be dazzled by the diamond glintz reflecting in the sand.
(Sometimes I don't miss that kind of holiday season too!)

    Nice write hun
    Good luck in the contest

For someone who never sees snow and has always longed for a White Christmas your words bring a touch of magic. I can feel the warm glow of the fire and see the winter sun reflecting off the crystals of newly fallen snow. Best wishes to you in the contest and may your Christmas bring you all that you wish for.

    Your words are beauty that
    softly glides across the screen
painting a vision of winters fun
and a warm fire when the day is done
