Invitation To Dance

Missing image
sound asleep in bed
I heard a sound
suddenly I turned my head

standing in the darkness
He was there
His hands reaching out... for mine
as I was asked
"could I have this dance tonight?"

a thousand angels, standing watch
anticipating, wondering
what would I do
resistence... I had none
as my hand did respond
His radiant love, so filled the room

He said...
I just want you to dance with Me,
while the angels look on

come..
We'll dance through the night
around My Throne
You can stand on My feet
if you need to
I'll never let you fall
as long as you hold on
to My right arm
and if only you let Me...
I'll lead you

Seems we danced forever
swirling, swaying
gravity left my feet
totally abandoned to the dance
lost in His pure, sweet embrace

He pauses...

His loving gaze fell completely upon me
more loved, I became
more than any love I've ever known before

Again ..
        we danced

the wind of His Spirit
blowing my hair
my gown...
          floating in air
swirling, turning
We danced...me and Jesus

                ...for eternity

Simple divine. You writing is simplistic yet at the same time complex, and highly beautiful. The imagery and symbolism here is wonderful, and the picture matches the poem perfectly! Well done on a superb write. Thanks for entering the contest

The picture is very beautiful and you have done it justice with your vivid imagery of the spiritual dance you have created.

    'the wind of His Spirit
    blowing my hair
    my gown...
    floating in air
    swirling, turning
    We danced...

    ...for eternity'

    an ending without end, perfect!

What a wonderful way to put something so personal and wonderful. I’ve never thought about it as a dance, but you’re right. Very good symbolization. I think it is awesome the way you symbolize Christ as our dance partner. And your fingers have danced across the keys to produce yet another inspirational write. I enjoyed it very much.
Thanks, and may you be blessed.

well...I'm in tears with this one...

    this line pivoted my soul:

You can stand on My feet
    if you need to
    I'll never let you fall

oh how I have stood on His feet...too many times to count...for there is no there explanation as to why I could stand at all...
the gravity of God is always perfect!
this is so well done...stellar poetry is pouring from your pen...and you know why? these words are falling from a heart that holds the Light...and your Light shines brighter each time you share it...
I am in awe of you and your poetic ability to pen these uplifting poems Mary...
and you do it masterfully...with grace and a style that is uniquely...and beautifully YOU...
    Blessings! Tammy

    How touching, loved the visuals.
    Adding conversation to the dance
    was a brilliant choice.
You could have danced in silence,
but the emotion might have been lost.

    "the wind of His Spirit,
    blowing my hair
    my gown...floating in air
    swirling, turning
    We danced..."

That is the imagery that makes this
    piece work.
    Good luck in the contest.

The part that is the most attention grabing, spotlight of the poem is:

    a thousand angels, standing watch
    anticipating, wondering
    what would I do
    resistence... I had none
    as my hand did respond
His radiant love, so filled the room

And the last line, ...for eternity.

It is really a great poem, for love and dancing. I was captivated
