The rocks were his pillow
And the dirt, his blanket
The cave was damp and dark
But comforting and warm in comparison
In comparison, to the sound
The sound
The bellowing
The screeching
That god-awful noise
The beast, that tucked away in the corner of the cave
Let out such a sound as he slumbered
That he, the man there that lay
Could not reach even one moments peace
He roll and he'd turn
As the beast'd do the same
The noises, the noises
The spits and the groans
The gargles and the moans
The man could not sleep
Not one wink, not one wink
Not while the beast lay asleep in the cave
The darkness now became the man's home
One he was forced to embrace
For sleep was never his
And the beast, he did hate
