The evening is hot
Stuck in Prishtina traffic
The Hummer seat is hard
An old woman stands in the median
Leaning, rather, on a crutch
She's missing a leg
Probably a landmine
Or Serbian shells
Twenty feet away a starving woman breastfeeds her baby
These scenes are everywhere
A boy lies barefoot in the streets of Farizaj
So much poverty everywhere
200 Euro a month
If they're lucky
Why do Americans complain?
Author notes
I was deployed to Kosova as part of KFOR7. The city names I have used are the Albanian names. No, I'm not stil over there. I think KFOR10 is about to go, if they havn't already. I'm in NM on the border mission now.

Yes why
I see you are a veteran and so is my husband two terms in vietnam in the marines and whats going on today has him very worried he doesnt say much but I can tell and he wont say other than we havent seen anything yet and just shakes his head unbelieving how sloppy the ones running this country has become . Such waste I say ask a veteran what needs to be done and he wouldnt hesitate to get this country running with a professional hand and put all that waste the leaders are playing with today towards this country being albel to support itself and quit relying on other countries .imports .We have the knowledge and the resorces to be our own supplier and give everyone jobs and helth care . The country should make top priority to rid this country of drugs for it truly will be our downfall if it continues.

A very good question
I'm glad you wrote this. It gives a different perspective to things, which I believe is good.
It sounds like you are still deployed, so I'll pass on the Welcome Home for the moment and say instead...God Bless you and keep you safe along with all others.
Thank you for what you are doing.
( if I got it wrong, let me know later, OK and I'll change things. At any rate, you are appreciated whether still active or back home.
