And who would have thought
That I was stronger than that—
And it doesn’t even hurt to
Look at your pictures (to look into all the lies you set up so pretty, but honey, the masquerade is over, and I wish I could say you were alone)
Who would have guessed
That while tears dripped down my face
Like you throwing diamonds out into the atmosphere
That I would be healing, even then
And making my way from you (from your heart and the twisted, rotted vines you let grow wild all over my skin—the skin you’ll never touch again)
And it doesn’t even hurt
To remember you (to recall all the ways you tricked me so sweetly, like saccharine poison forced down my throat, and now I’m draining it out of me)
The memories are like
Fading ghosts, like flitting pests
Burning down to embers, like your soul (like all the redeeming parts of you, as you evanesce out of the form, like a black butterfly escaping from it’s cocoon)
And I’ll never regret a kiss,
I’ll never wish to rewrite time,
But I’m glad you’re gone (overjoyed that your medusa-like qualities showed before they came to full fruition, before you could turn my very blood to stone)
Baby, you’re like
A snowflake,
And you’re
Melting (becoming one with the ground, the crowd).
Author notes
I'd like help with the beginning, because I'm not entirely happy with it.
The ending, however, I do like.
Please tell me what you think

I love the visual of diamond tears... I honestly really like the beginning and wouldnt' suggest any changes. The lies set up so pretty, masquerade over, good stuff! Great write!

Henry Ward Beecher once said "Young love is a flame; very pretty, often very hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. The love of the older and disciplined heart is as coals, deep-burning, unquenchable."
Prehaps it can be a source of greater things to come when young love is put out. It reminds us that there are more chances in the future of what we seek. The whole ideology of settling for something less then what we desire is so 1950's. It is good to hear that prehaps the actions of said person are no longer affecting you in a negative mannor. Take forth what has been learned and apply it into future situations where similar issues might occur.
