Stopping at the green light.
Trying to push the gas,
But it is too hard of a fight.
This doesn't make sense
And I am very aware of that.
Head pushing against the headrest.
Trembling hands clenching the wheel.
Heart racing.
Stomach churning.
I just want to get past this light.
But with all my power,
I can't seem to give enough of a fight.

Author notes
Inspired by an analogy that was made in one of the first few pages of the book, The Secret Language of Eating Disorders. Something that I feel that I was fully able to understand even though it didn't make any sense.
Please tell me what you think

hehe. that was cool. You're right, it doesn't make much sense that you can't push the accelerator and just get through the green light (although in your case, when your car stalls it does). I guess its something that only some people can truly understand.
