Melodies Breathing Life Into Me

Little girl
so scared and
feeling so alone.
You may not remember
but
I will never forget.
Why'd you do it Daddy?
Why'd you try to
steal the innocence
that was born inside me
the day I came into this world?
They say we are all
born into sin...
but...
sin spawned me.
You ushered me into a chaotic world
starting right inside the walls
of our very own home.
Did you intend to break me?
Were you trying to taint me?
Why'd you have to take my purity?

I remember the nights
when I contemplated suicide...
little princess' should lay in bed
and have visions of
white picket fences
dancing through their head...
but not me.
I had visions of
impaling my chest
on that white picket fence...
visualizations of my
deep red blood staining the
innocence of that very same fence...
and hence...
I cried...each and every night...
tears rained down
as my mind watched my blood
staining the ground...

and the angels...
they felt my tears dropping...
and God...
He heard me silently crying...
and my sister...
she brought me life...
as my soul was slowly dying.
Lying in bed with me
she would quietly sing to me...
holding me...
"Amazing grace...how sweet the sound"...
and the blood stained ground
would dissipate from my third eye...
and I would...if only for a moment
find peace in the sweet melodies.
