I. Ah thumper
I ain’t no bible thumper.
Ain’t no koran thumper either.
Nor torah.
Bhagavad-Gita who a?
Not me a.
I ain’t gonna
thump any word a
god do ya'
know what I mean, ah,
Man, ah?
II. Word
There ain’t no word of love
when there is only love.
III. Free verse time
A poet shall be last
to say goodbye to
the time of words.
Goodbye words...
I love you love...
IV. Words
When I said Africa
she saw it brown and green,
floating continently.
I saw it africa,
also floating,
but like a word.
Words.
They can present so many ways.
Love can too.
V. Love
I love you love.
I love you life.
VI. Slap
This disjointed smoothie
(in)on a face gone warm,
flushed even,
thinking of the love
everywhere...
Author notes
My thanks to Jodi, who saw africa differently than I did. And Carlos, Man that he is!

Thanl you for this "disjointed smoothie" and for entering my competition.
You have stated one definition of free verse "To play with words" in your author notes, if not in the poem as requested.
However, even for something as wide as free verse I feel the definition is very vague and ambiguous.
I do agree that the actual writing is a great expression of your feelings on a number of issues and thank you for sharing them.
Jim
PS
putting your picture in the comments sort of removes the annonimity old friend

My apologies for not adhering to the rules, Jim. That aside, thank you for the contest and the change to participate. I enjoy reading the entries in contests I enter, so look forward to seeing all of them here.

I really loked this Doug. kind of jumbly but mind and muses work like that sometimes.
Reminded me of my own scattered thought waves breaking agains the empty hollows of my mind.
Bravo!

Word up, homey...
Words... Such crazy conventions they are (not like the Shriners, but similar). Strange how the hold us together, bind us and trap us yet keep us so separated... So what is it we "poets" purport ourselves tobe doing? Hoping to map out the wordless, speechless, soundless No-thing that is all There Is..What a lovely and loving game to play...
Word, home bro...
