The Cell

I cower in shadows
Shun the light of day
Avoiding the bright rays
I crouch alone in my cell

Not a vampire am I
But a pitiable creature
Of darkness I am
Unable to withstand
The painful glare
Of illumination

As the light encroaches
I scrabble to escape
Spilling the darkness inside
To delay the inevitable

I cannot last much longer
There is only so long that
I can delay the inevitable

But delay it I shall
Until my time runs out
And light fills the cell
To a choir of
My agonized screams

Author notes

Okay, I haven't written anything in a while, so this is my return to literary catharsis. I'm a bit rusty, so you'll have to forgive me if it sucks.

Whatever

Hmmm... I'm not really sure what to say about this poem. It's good..but I don't know what to say. Hmm... Great poem though, nice flow. It doesn't suck. =]
