Our Poetica

I’ve never wrote a single word
I wanted to take back,
and if I maybe laze about
I’m still not sure it’s bad.
I write when the mood pleases me
and sometimes when it doesn’t,
I write some things that don’t please me
as well as things that should.
After incubating an idea
I pick up a pen
or get close to a computer screen
Somewhere I can spend
the time it takes to write the piece
that begs me to be written,
and sit and edit over and again
until it’s fairly finished.
Then I take the “finished” piece
and post it on the web
to be peer reviewed and edited
to simply just be read.
To be read is a poet’s bravest wish
more-so to be praised,
so I will do all that I can
to realize the dream.
