52 cards, 52 confessions
4 suits, 4 un-earthly messes
One ace of spades
One huge mistake
an hour of pleasure
and a day to late
52 cards, 52 broken hearts
saw it coming right from the start
2 kinds of color
Black of evil, red of blood
A new kind of game
That the joker never Won
4 suits, 4 un-earthly messes
One ace of spades
One huge mistake
an hour of pleasure
and a day to late
52 cards, 52 broken hearts
saw it coming right from the start
2 kinds of color
Black of evil, red of blood
A new kind of game
That the joker never Won
Author notes

I love it! I know a guy like that too. I wonder how many decks he really deals with. Great word play on the cards. "52 cards, 52 broken hearts". Any true player would aspire to that. Thanks you for entering. Good luck.

Wow, what a clever poem! I enjoyed this to the fullest extent!

I really like the sentiment and the backstory in your author's note here. It helps clarify quite a bit. I like the second stanza far more than the first. Good work and thank you for entering

I like this!
I've been playing cards (innocently) all day, well not all day, but lots of cards. I very much like this metaphor, thank you very much for entering x
