Bridge Night

Dummy plays the knave.
She hesitates...
Straightaway we know
she has the Ace
and can't remember
what has gone before...
who might have the King...
the Queen.

After more deliberation
she s l o w l y...
almost reluctantly plays
‘The Ace’ ta-raaah!
and seems surprised when,
with a frown of frustration
her partner throws down
the King.

I don't play bridge, but I know enough to think that this captures the play pretty well. This piece is very self contained and economical, I also noticed that both stanzas end with the name of the card played. Nice work
