i know i should leave
and get on with this day
of all work and no play
but
somehow I am linked
to every lost
toy
and the broken doll
which no one cares
to fix

Excellent Writing
I think you have a heart as big as the moon! All children are sure to love you!

Hmmm. I likey. Very "You". Ha ha ha. If you can still play with it and have fun, what's the point of fixing it? I don't feel that all the people I know need to be fixed before I'll play with them.

and the broken doll which no one cares to fix... Another great write from a heart that cares about people.

Neat write. Melancholy and quaint... with wonderful imagery. Just one tiny thought.... possibly for metre, second last line could be "no one"... then the sudden two word ending really stands out.
... and the broken doll
which no one cares
to fix.
Just thinking out loud today. Nice write. Thanks for sharing the moment.

Thank you Monkie ...
and I agree: no one sounds better. You are correct as usual.

A simply-worded poem, yet with layers of meaning. Your compassion and love shine through this excellent piece of poetry.

Sympathy, empathy and compassion run together for me, I can never keep them sorted. This is the subject, how one has "promises to keep", but a strong tie to someone else. This is an encapsulation of a constant dilemma.

We love you and we ask too much sometimes.

In other words: You are a compassionate person, which I already knew though. This is what it tells me when reading your poem. You cannot just leave things in society as if they are not existing! Beautiful write. Very well done.
Anna.

Short and deep. In reading the poem, I was first of all struck by the words: "I know..." and within my mind's perception it links well with "...I should leave"; "...I am linked"; "...the broken doll...", and the most sad of all: "...none care to fix". How desolate the 'lingering' and the 'yearning' - even for the '...lost toy' and 'the broken doll'. I have taken note of the lower case ' i's ' and later the capital ' I's ' and to me this signifies humbleness as well as the 'child in us all', and later the 'growth, the maturity, the knowing, the having to stand on one's own'. There is the message of hope - especially at this time of the year, that we will reach out, with a move away from '...none cares to fix', towards: 'I do care to reach out and enable this with [not within or for] you.
