This airport as web, with spokes of comings and goings,
a sum of words unspoken, where only a few fly to schedule,
if at all. For more land here than ever leave-
the internal dialogue is full of passengers, fossils
wrapped in amber threads. Denied clearance.
The waiting settles, becomes a failure to depart. Time
marked passing terminals, examining spent narratives:
like age seven, when inertia first crept between small
bones in feet. Small feet- only useful when grounded,
never intended for walking so many bad weather circles.
But all things grow, even when pressed to tarmac. Even
these toes are bigger now. On the outside at least.
Now round enough to grab a patch of blue, to drag
a weight of sunlight down, replace the silk with wings.
Waiting only suffocates in the past, in breathing
backwards.
The future is all unclaimed air.

Like Mary said already... the ideas of the contest are stretched somewhat here.... but tis a good plume nontheless... i like it alot, especially the unclaimed air.. like lost luggage...

I have read this several times- and with each read a new nuance that i hadn't gathered the first time- little threads of light streamed into this terminal-
is this what we were looking for in this contest.. not sure i can say it is..
is this something i am really happy to find here.. definitely- i know i run way too many contests and one of my self - monitoring mantras is to leave the contests open ended enough to allow individual interpretations-
you have taken what seems like a very leading prompt and have added a beautiful new poetic aspect to it-
this is wonderful poetry-
and i'm so glad to find it here

the visual imagery here is excellent
the metaphor for life's journeys and being grounded simply exquisite
