I want to be in the birdline
I want to be there when/
Where the season retreats
For but moments
For but drives
Fleeting
Fleeing northerly whimsy
On a wing’s whim
The traveling five o’clock
Fugue
Doesn’t know December
Like I know December
The new moon came in condescending
Said I’d plateau soon
As soon as I forget
As well as I count
And steal the occasional accident
And pen from the waitress
It’s about time I pulled the metronome off the wall
It’s about time
I pulled the swinging pocket watch out of the sky
And all was new again
For but moments
But
All doesn't remember
Like I do
Author notes
i stood outside for a few forgetful moments this evening and watched a rare winter 'v' of birds overfly my sight at just the right time, i suppose, etcetera, etcetera

I don't quite understand how this is your take on the contest... but perhaps I'm looking at it wrong? Thank you for entering, and I'm sorry this has taken me so long to judge.
