Going, Going, Gone...

It is time to go, I take my leave
Knew it would come, but could not believe
That when on AP my time would end,
I should leave behind so many a good friend.

Much have I learned, much have I grown
Your words tell me that I am not alone.
Thoughts and feelings that I knew,
Those very same occurred to you.

This but one world here on AP.
Yet other worlds I hope to see.
So should you chance to see me there,
Call out to me, then take a chair.

We'll talk, we'll laugh, remember when
Our souls did knit, you made me your friend.
One thing shall you never see,
That I forget what you mean to me

Author notes

I always wondered how a person goes about leaving All Poetry. Some gradually fade away, others leave abruptly without a word. So many good people here, real and true friends that I could not do either of those.
I will miss my friends here dearly. When first I logged in, I thought simply to read some 'fresh ' poetry and perhaps talk about some ideas. My life has been enriched so much by each of you.
This has not been easy. Why leave then? Sometimes events occur that prompt us to move on.
Have you ever held on desperately to something you know, unsure of what lies ahead? There is so much I could yet do here and I am positive I have not outgrown this site by even a small margin.
I have to let go. Then I will know. It is exciting. We let go and then life shows us the next step on the path.

Thank you to each of you for your voice and listening to mine also. There are many voices and it feels good to not only be heard, but to hear your voices also. Carry on 'poeting ' !!!

To my friends, I will/do miss you. Hopefully our paths cross again in this life. From time to time I shall probably stop by to take a peek and see what you have been up to. If you want to keep in touch, just let me know and we shall make arrangements.
My love to you all and a big hug. Jadon aka Silent Eagle

Do you sometimes find it hard to let go?

    I...

hate this poem, the worst work I have ever read. I seem to be getting careless, you are the second dear friend I have lost in just a few weeks. These are not the best of times.

The Autumn sun shone through the trees
catching the carpet of fallen leaves.
    Golden yellows and russet browns
    This Autumn dress... pre-Winters gown.
But things appear not as they seem
    An emptiness in fair Sherwood.
Where are the men in Lincoln green
Where is our bold Robin Hood.

AP without Jadon is like Sherwood Forest without Robin Hood.
Have a good life my dearest friend. WASP.

Most of the time, we cross paths with the people we cross paths with in the most expected places and at the most unexpected times, but oftentimes that's the magic of a bond of that sort. We didn't see it coming, so it's even more cherished. I bless the day we met, and though I don't remember exactly when that was, it must have been about a year ago now...maybe a little more? Doing that contest together was the best thing you could've persuaded me to do because the communication between us for the contest brought about a wonderful friendship. You'll be missed on AP, but your spirit will always be with each and every one of us that have come to know you. I've quoted a few of your quotes to friends of mine (some of your poetry lines), so others will know of you whether you're at this site or not! You're not on myspace, but some people know about you over there. Funny how it works, isn't it? Take care, Jadon, and catch you on down the line!!

    Merry Christmas (You Are Loved!)

... Yes, letting go is never easy and yet the expression ... gone but not forgotten, is not just a silly cliche is it? When someone has taken our heart and shown it kindness there will always be that fond memory that we cannot let go of. I wish you well and may your future roads find you more smiles and more good friends. Happy New Year and happy trails to you too ... joy
