story(unamed)--chap 5

Chap. 5
Isabella was the first to speak. “Two hundred thousand years ago, two teenage boys were wandering in a forest not too far from here. They were goofing around like how any boy would, when they stumbled upon a meteor that was flaming red.
“The two boys picked it up, and named it the Icestar. The Icestar allowed them to do many things. Although, they found out, at a great price. The Icestar would kill you once you used its powers. The two boys kept it, but never used it.
“For fifty years, the boys kept it, and they did not age. Then, one of the boys wanted to go his separate way, but also wanted to keep the Icestar. They decided on a compromise: they would cut the Icestar in half and split it between them. Therefore, they cut it, and they named the other half the Firestar. The two boys parted ways to the other sides of Alercaria.
“Several hundred years passed, and the two friends had not seen each other. The reckless one, Rellark, began to study dark magic. Soon, he had figured out how to defy the Firestar, which was the one he kept. He began using it to cause destruction all through the land, and the Firestar did not cause him any pain. The other boy, Adgem, found out, and traveled back to Rellark and started interrogating him. He did not approve of Rellark’s ways, and they began fighting. Adgem did not use the Icestar, but rather his sword. They fought for a hundred years; Rellark, using the Firestar, and Adgem using his sword and his head.
“Finally, one fatal day, Adgem was defeated. On the plains of Moorlake, Rellark and Adgem faced off. Adgem was loosing, but he would not allow Rellark to destroy Alercaria. Therefore, he used the Icestar and tried to destroy the Firestar. Rellark counter-attacked him with the Firestar. Both of them won.
“The Firestar was not destroyed, but temporarily frozen. The Icestar had done its job, but at a dreadful price: it took Adgem’s life. The Firestar would be frozen for another hundred thousand years. Rellark knew that Adgem had risked his life for Alercaria, but he could not comprehend it.
“So he kept the Firestar, and hid the Icestar. Then he hid away and sought out to wait the hundred thousand years time period.”
By the time Isabella had finished, Serenity sat in her chair, thinking over what she had just said. Finally, she spoke, “Has the Icestar ever been found?”
Jason looked grave. “Sadly, no. People have been trying to find it in hope of stopping Rellark.”
Serenity spoke up again. “What do you mean by stopping Rellark? He can’t use the Firestar, so he can’t hurt anyone.”
Isabella responded to this. “Well, actually, the Firestar helped him create the disasters, but Rellark can still cause destruction technically without it. You see, before the Firestar was ‘frozen’, Rellark hatched a dragon using it.
“There are only two ways to get a dragon. One: you have to create the egg using dark magic, which is exactly what Rellark did. Second: you can get one from the Dragon Master, Salanna, but only under very special circumstances.
“Now, Rellark is still causing destruction with his dragon and his army of Malks, the creatures you saw at Jason’s house. So even though Rellark cannot use the Firestar, he is still dangerous.”
“What does that have to do with me?” questioned Serenity.
Isabella was about to speak, but Jason raised a finger and silenced her. “You already spoke,” he teased, “now, it’s my turn.”
Isabella sighed and let him continue. “Okay. A couple hundred years ago, we—that is elves, humans, dwarfs, and everyone else—tried to find a way to defeat Rellark for the last time. They chose twenty defenders: eleven elves, six humans, and three dwarfs. They were the ones to try to destroy Rellark in the precious time we have left. To help them, they were given a bonded dragon from Salanna; it was the only thing she could do to help.
“They had a leader, who was the first to join; she was a human. Her name was Ilea. She held them in line and helped lead them into battle. Then, a hundred years ago, she disappeared. However, Ilea is sitting right in front of us today.” Serenity glanced around, searching the dimly lit room for Ilea.
Jason cleared his throat and spoke again. “Ilea is you, Serenity.”

were you surprised to know Serenity was Ilea?
