"Didn't I promise you these?."
He stated in his fine open accent.
and he was alight with gentle humor.
She was lying on the floor
on the anniversary of his death.
And he stepped over her
and took her wrists
"What is wrong with y' child?"
She was lying on the floor
brushing against all he'd scrawled to her.
The necklace she'd left with him
was hanging down to her
from his quiet skin.
She was lying on the floor
and he was shot down again.
And she crept over
and slid her finger over his lips.
She was lying on the floor
as he died.
