Deadly Hands of the Ocean

The cold, turbulent waves crash against the rocks,
Bombarding her with water like ice crystals.
It’s almost serene the way she twirls through the water,
Rushing and slowing in turns.
The solitude is just enough for her.

No screams of pain,
No words at all.
Lost in this dream-like state,
Her muscles relax as she drifts away.
Down, down, deep into the current.

Salt water burns her throat,
But she barely notices.
Her arms scratch and tear at the reef below.
A whorl wind of wetness twists her body,
Contorting it.

Entombed in this endless coffin,
Her soul is set free.
Eyes roll back,
And her skin prunes like a raisin.
No longer shivering,
The water’s almost warm.

Her dress disturbs the peaceful scene,
The blood out of place,
Looking almost pink.
It’s a genuine fantasy.
This was no brutal way to die,
Almost calm,
Serene.
