Respect

If loving you
Is just a fancier word
For losing myself
I’ll take the other direction

I’ve changed my hair, I’ve changed my clothes
Done everything to let us grow
But the only thing that will never change
Is the respect I feel for myself

I need to find my inner guide
I’m looking for my inner me
It’s a little bit scary
But this is how it has to be

There’s no one but me to lean on
And no one but me to heal
My wounds that has to go
My soul that needs to be sealed

In the end it’ll be my victory
My joy
You can’t be there in any way
Nothing more to destroy

You can see that broken mirror
You can touch its deep scars
The only thing that is staring back at you
Are the shadows of the heart you left to fall

I felt this started really strongly, and it was something a lot of us can relate to. Changing to be what somebody wants is never going to make either person happy - and it's feels like you know this as this goes on.

I did feel it got a little lost in the second half, but it's still a well crafted piece.
