Journey back
to when
you couldn't reach the cookie jar
sitting still was out of the question
you had temper tantrums just to get
that new toy
you watched Teletubbies and Arthur
you ran around in the sprinklers, and when you tripped
you got right back up again
spent hours with your cousins playing hide and seek
were ecstatic everytime you got a present
you ate like a pig, stuffing your face
with everything you could get your hands on
and a time when you couldn't reach the mirror
so you didn't care what you looked like
couldn't understand the bathroom scale
so you didn't care how much you weighed
couldn't shop at Juicy or Neiman Marcus
so you didn't care what you wore
Think about the kids of today...
all of this
is perfectly
available to them.
Video games,
designer clothes,
diets and beauty pageants,
parents who obsess over
every little thing...
nothing like it was
back in the 90's...
or 80's...
or farther back...
Let's journey to simpler times. <3
Author notes
Felt inspired when I was thinking about when I ws little and I could never see myself in the mirror, so I didn't give a crap what I looked like...
