Laughter and squealing, the children excited
imaginations so bright Santa had surely been sighted
gleefully checking that all was just right
the milk and the cookies to help on his flight.
Peeking out of the window with teddies in tow
watching and waiting to see that sleigh glow
checking to make sure that the stockings are ready
twirling in a flurry like endless whirling eddies.
The Christmas tree sparkles like fairies a-dancing
reminding the children of reindeer a-prancing
mother sits them down, telling them, listen with care
and all of a sudden all is quiet as ears are aware.
A hymn softly hummed puts the babes in a trance
as lids start to close, then peep with a glance
teddy's hugged tightly as heads rest on top
as Mr Sandman creeps and eyes finally drop.
Silent night sung, children carried to bed
dreams of the morning flow through their heads
tucked up warm and tight, mother closes the door
as the angels of heaven guard with blessings galore.

I so enjoyed reading this, I love Christmas it's my favorite time of the year! We already have our tree and outside lights up, I love the decorations and the way people are kinder to their fellow man I wish people would act this way all year long. I loved your poem filled with such vivid imagery and emotions. I also wrote one based on the Night Before Christmas but I wrote it for my son and all the military. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent with us all. Hugs Theresa

This one is great, Lovely thoughts as well as great meter and rhyme. I read this one when I first joined and was not familiar with the mechanics of the site and I loved it.
