So Perhaps We Won't Be Singing

So perhaps we won't be singing
pretty love songs anymore,
and perhaps these old bells ringing
will now cease forevermore.

And perhaps our hope is dying
and the streets are filled with pain,
and perhaps our children crying
have but worse to gain.

So perhaps the world is broken
and our lives are rent in two
by a misery unspoken,
and perhaps we're dying, too.

And perhaps we'll all be slaughtered
when the shadow has been cast,
and we'll lose our sons and daughters
'fore the night has fully pass'd.

So we're never going back home,
and perhaps we all shall die,
but no longer shall our hearts roam,
no, the dawn's return is nigh.

So we'll still go on a-singing
'til we cannot anymore,
and the bells shall keep on ringing
'til they cease forevermore.

Aww, sweetie, this is really sad not your normal cheery write or your life's lesson write. But there's hope at the end, right? there's always hope so the poem wouldn't be finished if you shortened it to make it gloomy. And even though it's sad, I still think you wrote it beautifully. I love you so much, Hun.
