Our First Christmas

It was our first Christmas,
So off we went to find
the perfect Christmas tree.
It had to be just so tall,
and not too full,
yet not too thin either.
It was snowing and starting to really stick,
And the roads were getting so slick.
So hurry up and take one, anyone.
We pushed it through one side of the back seat
Of the car, to find that it wouldn’t come back out that way.
It took a lot of pushing and tugging to get that huge tree out of the car.
Then it was too tall for the living room. So off to get a saw, he goes.
While he was gone I strung popcorn and cranberries.
We cut the tree to fit and pop it into the stand, one of those old fashion kind.
So he is under the tree, with me saying a little to the left, and a little to the right. .
Down comes this huge tree right on top of him.
I was laughing so hard I couldn’t get it off of him. Not to save my life.
Well finally we got it off of him.
And we got it up all safe and sound.
Next would come the strings of popcorn and cranberries,
Then strings of white beads and beautiful soft red and white,
Peppermint stripe garland.
Red and white ornaments, white doves and red apples.
And there was a beautiful white angel for the top, and last but not least; candy canes.
We stood back in awe and then realize we had forgotten to put on the lights.
We both laugh so hard, and then we took everything back off.
And started all over,
Well, except for the tree falling on top of him.
It was a beautiful tree.
Our first Christmas.
