Hanging upside down
On monkey bars so high
I see the world upside down
But my brain knows it’s alright
No matter how things look
From where I am so high
My brain always knows they’re right side up
Contrary to my eye
I wonder how the world would feel
If the ground became the sky
Would it be my brain I trust?
Or would it be my eye?
I climb down and fix my hair
The world is back in place
I tell myself my brain is right
And eyes can’t always be trusted – just in case.
Life goes on as it always does
The earth turns as it’s always done
And I realize, that sometimes,
Walking on the sky is not so fun.
