Small Treasures

Missing image

I’m a treasure hunter
always have been

As a little girl
a lady taught me

Her rolling waves
brought  treasure every day

Each day I went to see her
I found a special shell...
and brought it home

I am a treasure hunter
I look for treasure
in everything

People watched me
when I visited the lady
I wasn’t aware

Now I’m very aware
the men especially

I still bring treasure home
a prize shell to
add to my collection

Funny; they looked
more precious
the moment I found them

    This is a beautiful write, Sis. It makes me think of how we think of things in life that we have and of what we should truly treasure. In my life, I have felt like the things I owned since I was a kid, I am sentimental about and have never given them away or sold them at a garage sale of anything like that. And, you're really great at writing the free verse style poem. Best of luck in the contest.
