Winter's breath kissed the darkness
Mist rising as heat met ice
He turned, she smiled
Their love this plan's device
A whispered word, the night grew
Swelling, enfolding, complete
He stopped, she gasped
Two widened eyes set out to meet
A silent plea to keep ahead
Message conveyed by lover's gaze
He nodded, she sighed
And they continued through this maze
Unexpected, undirected
More footfalls upon the snowy ground
He roared, she sobbed
Their destination never found
