I awoke very suddenly and sat up with a fright.
There to my surprise came a wonderful site,
God’s son did appear on this Christmas Eve night.
I smiled at Him and was ready to say,
Jesus will be here on this Christmas day.
Then to my wonder and my surprise,
His face looked sad there were tears in His eyes.
I stared at Him and looked straight at His face,
Then as He spoke I bowed in disgrace.
The voice that I heard wasn’t kind and stern,
The sound of it made both my ears burn.
I heard an elderly woman that her family forgot.
A poor single mother with three teens and a tot,
A brave young soldier in a far away land,
The disabled and sick that just needed a hand,
I heard voices crying as if all had been lost,
But to help them out would be such a great cost.
Then Jesus turned as if going to leave,
Instead He knelt down and started to grieve.
I ask what I could do to ease His pain,
His tears flowed harder just like the rain.
Feed the hungry, help those that are poor.
Help your working wife by just mopping the floor.
Lift up the elderly and show them your love.
Tell the lost about heaven above.
Help the widow raise up her child.
Lift someone’s spirit with a hello and a smile.
Visit a hospital to comfort those there.
Show love to an inmate who no longer cares.
Do something for someone other than you.
My word has told you what you should do.
As He arose back to heaven I heard him exclaim.
Remember I know each of you by name.
Children it’s sad at the celebration of my birth.
There is so much hate and no peace on earth.
So children of God at this Christmas season,
Do not forget that Jesus is the reason.
