The Kitchen
Crumbs, crumbs, crumbs...
Littering kitchen countertops,
rocks on a mountain,
grains of sand on a beach.
Coffee spills like dried lake pools, ever present and often wet!
Dirty spoons lurk behind peanut butter jars.
Variety of food containers littering counterspace.
Motley collection of dishes rudely reminding me,
I have work to do today!
Bag of cement, bundle of insulation, two pairs of shoes
all make their home on the kitchen floor.
Cabinets hold usual dishes and glasses,
also Miracle-gro, a scooter battery, cat medicine
Spare microwave, Weed killer, ceiling light cover.
Covered coffee mugs hide amongst never-used cups,
All waiting for their turn to fire my nerves up.
Today is cleaning day.
The kitchen will never let me forget it!

Interesting metaphor. That whole "getting your kitchen in order" thing.
"Cabinets hold usual dishes and glasses,
also Miracle-gro, a scooter battery, cat medicine
Spare microwave, Weed killer, ceiling light cover.".....really? that doesn't sound to promising.
I guess we all have are harmful details to close to the dishes. Good job and good luck!

This is hilarious ...
and when you get done, you're welcome to come over and clean my kitchen too. That will certainly keep you busy.
