her smile loving and genuine
and her laugh,unforgettable..
I hadn't known her long,
but until this very day,
I remember every word
she ever had to say..
I miss her, I remember her,
and it always makes me cry,
realizing, questioning,
the reason she had to die..
She had so much to live for,
I believe she wanted to be a vet,
but the life she lived,
I could never forget
Etched in my memory,
through tears and sobs,
my body trembles,
and my heart sadly throbs
I wish I had known her better,
there were so many things I wanted to say.
I regret so many things,
I wish it would be ok
Her mother was heartless, selfish
how could she be so cruel..
the fool!to her own child, so vile,
to this precious jewel!
It's been years now,
since her death,
so I take a deep breath,
though it hurts as badly
as if it was just yesterday

My story: In 9th grade my friend Elizabeth, her father and even her dogs were shot by her mother. Fortunately it was quick, but she was only 14, a few days before Halloween. The way I found out was almost as bad.I was sitting in class listening to the announcements when they mentioned her death.. I worked for the school newspaper and had taken a quote from her, and not knowing if it was her, I searched for the article, trying to find her last name, and it was her..I went to her memorial and it still hurts thinking about it, but this is the first time I've written about it.

Thank you for entering my contest.
I've never heard of such a crime! And I'm very, very sorry you had to find out the way you did, though I'm glad too, that it was quick.
This poem, because of context, was a bit new too me, and reminded me of child abuse in general. Sadly, its more common than people are willing to reliaze, and its cases like these, that really bring it into focus. "Where there is darkness, there is light".
Youre friend, I must say I believe, is much happier being able to spend some time enjoyimg the after life, watching over you, and all those who loved her, staying with REAL family (dad and dogs) until she can be born again, into another, better family. -
im srry you had to find outthat way
but its a good poem
