Eyes Of The Child - Gold

there are strobing messages
in lights’
preparation for festival or falling

see how colorful this cold snow,
crusting mouth
of winter
mimic of moon’s glow

that fade of light
in a starving child’s eyes
sputtering in condemnation
that we did not do enough

thumbprint on wax candle wick
where I snuffed out
potential
for late night fire

two of the three lights, I can manage,

but, God,

what do I do about
the language of
this dead child
with dark eyes?

not what I expected from this contest, but this powerful piece offers an awareness that I indeed welcome... heart-felt and heart-wrenching... the descriptions are poignant and well thought out & beautiful writing from you, as always... saddening and purposeful...

There was a baby who was illed by shaking here in Maine, nearby. I was stunned... what a tragedy. Ty for the gold my friend. There are other things to concern ourslf about that getting, wanting, and pulpit-pounding, to be sure.

We spread joy in spite of pain. Yet, all our moments, for those with caring hearts, are tempered by the pain around us. Perhaps it is best to realize that our strength and caring can change the world, bring more children in from abuse and nightmare to the warm light of love. So never stop loving and never stop sharing it with all that you can. Stand strong as a haven in every storm and with character show others how one lives in the Light of Love.
oops found that soap box again
    Love, Tom B.
