The cat is perched on the back of sofa
Staring out the window at the white scene
Leafless tree branches covered with snow.
Footprints of a Jack rabbit hopping along
Squirrels dart around finding hidden acorns
Sunshine glistens on the newly fallen snow.
Walking along snow squeaks and crunches
Marking time leaving our footprints behind
Soon disappearing as more snow covers them.
Voices and giggles are muffled enjoying the beauty
Throwing the first snowball of the season
Thoughts go back as kid and rolling in the snow.
Cars rush by splashing mud upon the white
As the streets are crowded with the Saturday
Errands and chores needing to be done…
Winter hasn’t arrived according to calendar
Chill factors has already drop to single numbers
Facing long cold winter nights in New England.
