Delicate Beauty

I write this late,

as I sit and watch you sleep

My delicate beauty,

What are you dreaming of so deep?

I sit here longing,

to keep you protected through the night

My soul worries daily,

of the dangers that await you in life.

Such a pure beauty

You have blessed my life with balance

You took a beaten soul

and gave it a second chance

I have learned to take appreciation

in even the smallest, silliest thing

Like the way you freak out,

every time the phone rings!

Beautiful,

that is you,

how you have changed me, though

you are only two!

Author notes

A write about my daughter. Not meant to be perfect, just some things going through my head. I was just laying there after she fell asleep in my arms and I just couldn't help all those motherly thoughts, fears and so on... so had to vent.

Weird how each child can bring a different kind of "balance" into your life.

This is very tenderly and softly written, just as is the Love you obviously share with her. Both of you are blessed to have each other...Well done... Scott

Sweetie this is beautiful. Weird, I was going through some old poems and read your comments on them and saw your name was different so I hopped over and was just going to say hello. Instead, I find this beautiful poem that I know comes from the heart. Our children are our greatest strength and joy but can also be our biggest heartache, that happens when they start to learn and grow though and get into the world a little bit. We always want to protect them no matter what the cost and find we will go to any lengths to do so but for now sweetie, just do what you're doing because that's wonderful. I remember when my daughter was a baby, I used to just sit there and watch her sleep for hours and cry because she was so beautiful and I loved her so much. Now she is my best friend and sometimes I still peek in her room at night and watch her sleep and still cry at the beautiful young woman she has become

The fears, they are natural honey but don't put to much worry into that right now, there will be plenty of time for that later, trust me lol my sons almost 28 and 30 and sometimes I still cry myself to sleep over them Just enjoy the peace and joy and love now, don't borrow trouble from tomorrow, tomorrow will take care of itself. Nice to see you back and writing again sweetie be well and be blessed

Thank you for the applauds and the comment, I try not to worry too much and just enjoy them as much as I can, they are still so affectionate at this age, I know one day hugging mommy is going to be "not cool"
Thanks again for stoping by, it is nice to be back, I don't get anytime to write, but that's okay!
      ~ blessed be! ~

You might be surprised my daughter is 17 and she still says she loves me about 30 times a day and hugs me and kisses me on the check at least 10 times a day, maybe she is the rare exception though
