Carols sing their charm in the heart,
softly grows the harshest soul,
trees bedecked of splendor
varnish the eyes with a child's enchantment.
Spirit finds breath of love
with aroma of goodwill.
For one special charmed night
the world in trusting innocence eyes
finds their own magic
unfurled upon dream's canvas.
Quietly we turn out the lights
after the season has woven its spell,
packing away what the spirit
truly was meant to be.
Always wishing in the aftermath
jingle of peace on earth
could ring longer
than a few moments
while supping on the Christmas spirit.

To me this is a sad write, for "packing away what the spirit truly was meant to be" is so often forgotten or not practiced. In so many countries, war is raging. There are also so many who are at war - whether they believe in this doing or not. Peace has become a "ring longer than a few moments". I salute you you. Frans
