Into the sunrise [extended version]

Beggin’ east wind to blow
take me  home now, please
sun in my eyes, singin’ low
gull song into mystic breeze;

time has stolen the years from me
sorrow has brought my tears, to be
but there was always the memory
of your honey eyes; callin’ sweetly.

You know I didn't want to go,
now you're so bright in my skies,
comin’ home been so very slow
wandering into the sunrise.

[Refrain]
Because it was always you, wishin' i'd stay
before I knew where to find my heart
or even where I had lost my way;
life came like a hurricane drivin’ us apart
and I was flying blind;
I was just flyin’ blind

Now the wind is rising strong
sailing smooth coming through,
and I have learned right from wrong
for it was always you, only you.

You know I didn't want to go,
now you're so bright in my skies,
comin’ home been so very slow
wandering into the sunrise.

I feel it risin’ more and more
I  know that truth is not a liar
bringin’ my feet to your door
lightin’ my heart, settin’ love on fire

[Refrain]
Because it was always you, wishin' i'd stay
before I knew where to find my heart
or even where I had lost my way;
life came like a hurricane drivin’ us apart
and I was flying blind;
I was just flyin’ blind

Into the sunrise, into the sunrise;
Wanderin’ in to the sunrise.
[repeat and fade]

Author notes

Option 4. Inspired by Into the Mystic by Van Morrison

I just strummed G-C-G-Am...G-C-G-Am7 in a little folk strum and the lyrics seemed to come out to my ear, so a simple melody will not be hard to do... the style is "Into the Mystic" Van Morrison.. a little slower;

not really a bridge although the "You know I didn't want to go," stanza fits... so have fun with this...

    So beautiful and romantic!
    I like Van Morrison songs, and you made justice to his style with this lyric.
    Made me think of his song 'Have I told you lately'

    Excellent read!

    Oh man, this is stunning..."I am flying blind" as well...always and ever....and perhaps it is meant to be that way.

    This is beautiful - the heart's song that carries one into the sunrise, into the blue blue day... I can imagine this with music... simply beautiful.
