Celestial call gently whispered on breeze,
Buddha waiting beneath banyan tree of time
Smiles, as rat races forward to master’s plea.
Honored rodent still reigns as calendar’s prime
Year, blessed by eagerness to reach spirit’s plane
As zodiacal swirl begins, while stars climb.
Charming and ordered steps follow the rat’s train
Of association, though remnant’s shadow
From pestilence and war darken his domain.
Material prosperity will bestow,
If luck grants one born in Year of Rat to know.
