Waiting for a lover by a lake near the trees
Mind steady as my body is swept by the breeze
Chills run down my spine, the ground covered in fog
Alone on a dreary night, yet not for long
A dark figure approaches, he smiles and I smile
Though my limbs are all freezing, it was worth all the while
His arms wrap around me, we kiss and he sighs
He holds me in close, love and lust in our eyes
He whispers in my ear in a voice filled with sadness
"I'm sorry but I cannot unbind you from loneliness
For I too have fallen in the dark of my soul
With my wounds never healing and the truth never told"
A laugh escapes me and I can't help but smile
I reply, "Love, let your pain be forgotten tonight
You need not save me, you already have
Just promise me that your kiss is my last"
