Once upon a Christmastown
filled with joy, peace, and goodwill
lived a family very well known
whom experienced a tragic chill.
Sit right back and enjoy this tale
of true love forever shown
in a town adored and loved well
that became the town's first snowdome.
There was a chill flowing around town that warned everyone Jack Frost was near returning, again. He visited his family for 3 months. The townspeople were mixed with emotions at his mention and his presence because of the horrific event quite a few years ago.
Jack fell in love with a Fireville girl. She was a hot number that melted Jacks heart and captured him forever. His family did not approve of her. They tried to convince Jack that SizzleLilac would destroy him, the townspeople, and the town. He did not believe them and one year after they had alopted and married they visited Jacks family. Lilac was totally surprized by the cold reception. Jack had purchased a coat for her but because of how hot she was it melted as soon as she put it on. Upon their arrival the young sprites in all their joy and glee of seeing Uncle Jack ran to him and gave him hugs n kisses. They instantly turned to his bride and did the same and met their untimely instant meltaway deaths.
Lilac did not understand how this happened because she was never aware of such things in her town, nor had it happen between Jack and her. Jack explained that he was under medical care on a new drug that was to keep him from melting when in close contact with something hot from Fireville. He was taking, Vioxnot. The children on the otherhand were not taking the drug and were succeptable to the heat. They, being as young as they were did not know this could happen. Lilac was in a state of shock over this.
Now, the laws that govern the town were different from Fireville's. If a child is hurt in any way the law states that the one who did the crime will be condemned forever to be frozen alive for as many years as the child is old. Jack tried to reason with the town government representatives, Amaryllis, Poinsettia, and Winter Rose as well as his family. He told them that the children were unaware of such a thing to happen as was his bride...a lack of knowledge, and he asked for leaniancy. The extent of the sentence equaled 27 frozen years. Because of Jacks logical plea the years were reduced to 6.75 and upon her Thawparole she would no longer be welcomed in Christmastown.
6.75 years have now passed by and this years arrival of Jack meant the thaw of his bride was near. He came home excited to be reunited with his dear love. On Christmas Eve the frozen block with Lilac was wheeled to the town square. The town maintenance crew prepped the heat lamps around the block and turned them on. Everyone around the square watched in anticipation as the block quickly melted to reveal a very cold, wet, and withered Lilac. Suddenly her petals and leaves fell to the grown. SizzleLilac was existant no more. She could not thrive or live in such frigid conditions. Jack dropped to the ground beside her, picking up his dear love to hold her one last time. He began weeping. His tears surrounded them, slowly layering upwards around them. The tears glistened with glitter, encasing them on a frozen globelike slab in the center of town forever.
Jack cried himself to death. SizzleLolac and Jack Frost would forever remain in Christmastown and this became the worlds very first Snowdome.

Very good tale! I enjoyed reading it, and it was surely unusual and creative. A nice way of telling about how the tragedies and punishments of society result in long lasting and permanent effects. Thanks for a an enticingly worded poem leading into such an interesting tale!

this was great story, but i was looking more for a poetic feel to it. it began poeticlly then turned prose. the imagination and theme of it was very good, but i was also looking for how YOU felt about the holidays. i really dont see how your true emotions of the season were in this. good job tho with the story itself
Thank you for entering -

This is such a sad tale, I guess not everything has a totally happy ending but at least they'll be remembered in a bittersweet sort of way.
Good luck in the contest
