Emet (The truth will set you free)

The truth of our creator
is that which lies within,
the answer you are searching for
where do you begin?

Ask yourself this question
it will open up the door,
unravel our existence
on our journey to explore.

Do you love?

Do you feel the light inside you
as you journey through the dark?
Do you feel your emotions
with compassion as your spark?

Do the tears fall down your face
when sadness has arrived?
Where do these feelings come from
just look deep down inside?

Do you love?

Where does love's essence come from
does it magically appear?
who has put this within us
our ability to care?

Does love come from nothingness
an accidental boom?
These are a few questions
for your mind to consume.

Among these many questions
place this one on your list,
to find the answer to this question
does God exist.

DO YOU LOVE?

Your poem is quite lovely and does a nice job of posing questions and getting the reader to think about the existence of God. I am still not quite sure how the title of your poem (and the themes of lying and truth) figure in, but perhaps that's just me.
Thank you for entering my contest.

I missed the significance of this in each reading, till now. Option b is off the table

This is the most interesting part for me:
    Among these many questions
place this one on your list,
to find the answer to this question
    does God exist.

    DO YOU LOVE?

God is love, so by extension: if we love, we are a/ inhabited by God or b/ we are a part of God or c/ Emmett is a believer of the atonement and is questioning his faith. answered by the fact that the creator is seen through his creation.

    Or, I missed something

In any event, the answer given is 'there is a God'

    I shall revisit before judging.
  • Good job. Thank you for entering. I like how you stated questions and kind of answered them. You portrayed God in a questioning light. Haha. Idk how to say what this made me think, but yeah.

    This is a beautiful poem

This is a fine heart warming poem that brings glory to our Creator. The feelings are beautifully expressed and brought me much pleasure to read. Wonderfully written.

As it tells us in the Bible at 1 John 4:8:9
He that does not love has not come to know God because God is love. By this the love of God was made manifest in our case, because God sent forth his only-begotton Son into the world that we may gain life through him.

1 John 4:19 As for us we love, because he first loved us.

How many of us would allow our first born sons to suffer death and ridicule to save mankind? This just shows how much God and Jesus loved us. a fine principled love known as Agape Love.

This poem brings out the love of God beautifully, a well written poem bringing glory to God. Thankyou for sharing your beautiful thoughts that are so inspirational.

Wow, beautifully said! I love the way you've joined God and love, and the questions are all perfectly connected as well.

I did notice just a couple of very small things.... “existance” I believe should be “existence”, and “loves essence” is missing the apostrophe, as in “love’s essence”. You may want to consider tweaking your punctuation a wee bit, as while reading it seemed like a lot of your periods should have been question marks whenever the poem asked a question. All very minor things of course, and you have obviously done just fine without my input. But hopefully you don’t mind my mentioning them.

I found your title very interesting. It wasn’t something I was familiar with, but a quick net search brought up some wonderful reading besides, so I thank you for that also.

Congrats on the well-deserved trophies. Romantic love gets so much attention in any contest about love, it’s wonderful to see reminders of what I believe to be the ultimate source of love to begin with.

Thanks so much for sharing, and best wishes!

Wow...this is one of the most inspiring pieces I've ever read on the subject (OR period). This is a wonderful question (all of them were for that matter)...I love the background you chose as well. Your compostion of rhyme is envious. I can't believe how much this piece meant to me. Thank you. This is excellent!

Excellent. I think you captured passion in a nutshell with the fourth stanza, and liked the connection of light later on in it with a spark.

The last part is a kind of twist, i like it.
Executed with surgical precision, nicely minimalist.
How did you get that background picture?

i don't know what to say...i am just speechless...all i can think of is that this is a very powerful poem...it makes you think about the life...and what is the purpose of life within this cosmic system...is there any other invisible world within this world...

    my favourite lines:

Where does loves essence come from
    does it magically appear,
who has put this within us
    our ability to care.

I really enjoyed this poem...thank you

The paradigm that life must have physical form is a mis concept induced into the perception of mankind. Powerful, immaculate thoughts are non-objects only in this plane where everything is related to shapes of matter and clusters of energy, put into frames of limitation and paradox. It is in this plane where pain and fear fuel abundant spiritual and physical crime, ignorance and indifference - ugly settings that mercilessly assault awareness of a loving GOD who is perfect, compassionate logic. Outside of here and now The Light battles to free us from this imprisonment and slavery. Each bite of food and sip of drink (if any is available) is contaminated with poison and the information fed to the brain is perhaps even more venomous. Yet still the whispers of The Light reach some ears who struggle to understand the illusions of life and cling to the innate knowledge that there must be better places and times in the care of rulers who love us instead of the ones who persistently exploit, abuse and murder us. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care,

    U

Does God exist. Surely, for God is Love, and we Love as God lives within us and is truth made manifest, Amen. May the Holy Spirit dwell in us always, Amen.

    Powerful thought provoking

Peace This is a powerful and empowering write excellently intellligently put together clear to the point. How does one improve expression with another expression but what came at a moment in time is and was what it is. Title Emet I do not know Emet or what it means but an experience can be given a name. I call my experience in America Igore or Ewok. What one may call something may have no bearing to me but to the writer please feel free to call it what you see it and then if Asked explain. What is Emet??? I enjoyed the poem and considered it empowering. Thanks for sharing this thought provoking write.

    This is very good

I really like this poem. sometimes i feel like i don't know why i care so much for people or have these feelings toward people i can't control, its hard to decide where those feelings come from and why we have them but i i know God exist and everything happens for a reason... the only question i don't know the answer to is why do these things make me feel the way i do? I dont really know any other way to say it but for this poem you took the words right out of my mouth. very good write.
